A Morning Soliloquy

When you pour your soul into a cup; yet they refuse to drink.
When you grind your being for them to eat; yet a crumb of bread isn't enough.
When you stand infront of them as a human; yet they desire an illusionist.
When you put your dignity on the line, and they reject you for another.
When you seek their help; yet they leave you amidst the tempest.
When you are expelled from the land of the living; yet nobody mourns you.

When the need for security trumps the thirst for the truth.
When the letter kills the spirit.
When retribution beats distribution.
When the sense of guilt threatens hope.
When you're imprisoned within structures of deceit.
When you become a mean to an end.

When love annihilates your existence and you start to ask "why bother then?"
The truth will ring in your ears "cause then, and only then, life begins"
